Hey guys! For this week’s blog post we’re highlighting two amazing young poets who didn’t think twice when approached to share their pieces with you all. These are our first entries for the Encouragement category.
I find these pieces interesting because, though I personally prefer to write dark pieces, it’s great to experience different emotions and ideas from this kind of poetry. As a poet, or even just as reader, it’s important that you read a variety of genres and styles to not only find your niche, but to learn to appreciate the differences in everyone’s story and creativity.
Over the past four or five years, encouraging pieces have reminded me that there is still some hope for better days in my life. During this time, I really needed help with healing from the things I didn’t want to discuss with those around me. And as much as I don’t write them a lot, other poets who do, have helped me tremendously in staying strong.
MASTER OF DISGUISE
For a moment, I thought it was me,
For a moment, I was fooled.
For a moment, all I felt was grief.
In that moment, all I wanted was faith.
In that moment of pain,
All I wanted was my person.
In this moment, I’ll dream.
In this moment, I’m free.
In this moment, I’m me.
I’m high off this momentum,
In this moment, I’m wise.
For this moment, I hope.
For this moment,
I learned faith.
And for the next moment,
I’ll fly.

TITANIUM
To the ones struggling in a world where anyone barely cares,
To the eyes that glisten only when they’re crying tears,
To the lips that speak, hoping that their words will get to the caring ears…
Stay strong.
To the hearts that have been abandoned, betrayed and broken, that have lost hope by not words that were uttered, but more of the ones left unspoken,
The souls that seek another to rest in, having felt like they have no purpose or for a love they weren’t destined…
Stay grounded.
To the minds that had to question their sanity, having to deal with people that were related only to vanity, withstand the drought now, until it’s all done, and when the rain comes remain firm,
like titanium.
