Matthew Harvey, JM

Matthew Harvey is a 22-year-old student at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. He has always been a huge supporter of the creative arts and has been a writer for 5 years. His experiences as a young person have given him the ability to speak on a plethora of issues that young people face on a daily basis in Jamaica and around the world. They have also birthed his keen interest in a specific area he believes is plaguing young people all around the world – suicide. He aims to use his experiences in life with a range of modern-day issues to spread awareness of key subjects such as mental health, domestic abuse, and the rights and power of women. The Monastery blog and his poetry will be the avenues through which he’ll achieve this agenda.
