Dare to be Strong

Hello everyone! I hope the new year has been treating you well!

I’m sure we all have new year resolutions, whether we choose to put them out there or keep them to ourselves. Though our goals are varied, we must always aim to be strong, to find the courage to stand and the bravery to face each day. Last year was a very hard one for a lot of us and some still don’t know how they survived it. But the fact is, we did. And we are fortunate enough to have been granted a shot at a new year, and possibly a new chapter in our lives. We should all dare to be strong for this new year; to promise ourselves to try, and try hard, to achieve our goals, and overcome the low moments we’re not yet able to see.

At some point I hope you realize how lucky you are to be alive, however chaotic this world may be. How blessed you are to breathe fresh air and hear the birds sing and the wind in the trees – things we may take for granted. But the truth is, only the living can experience these beautiful blessings and you, are alive.

Congratulations.

Not everyone is able to say so at this moment. Families are broken, friendships, romantic relationships that we believed would last forever. The past may have stolen some very important aspects of our lives, but it can never steal our future.

This week I’d love to share one of the pieces in the encouragement section, “The Finale”, from my new book on Amazon, Becoming A Butterfly. My piece will be alongside those by two amazing poets, J. Fallen and a new poet to our blog, Xavpoetry.

RISE ABOVE by J. Fallen

Sometimes giving up seems like the better option, after the trauma’s bottled up it seems to cause an eruption…

Sometimes life seems to be the one fighting you, regardless of how you try. The tension of negative energy becomes sky high, and it seems the pain won’t die, like all the happiness you’ve felt before was all just a lie.

But you’re more than what you feel, rise above.

Some people are destructive and some are just leeches, but best believe the lessons more valuable are the ones life teaches.

Even heart breaks are beneficial to you. And Remember self love is greater than the one you get from your crew.

You’re greater than what you see, rise above.

The passion for your  betterment is greater than the betterment of your passion for vanity,

Don’t lose your self trying to rule the city, because when you do, the city will not have pity.

You’re better than what you think, rise above.

REGARDLESS by Matthew Harvey

The trunk of a tree is equipt with the necessary elements to keep the fortress erect. A fortress decorated with a crown of green and roots anchored in bravery, in fearlessness, in the determination that the castle must stay strong regardless of the storm clouds that may threaten its integrity.

Soon the clouds brought destruction, but the will of the trunk and the courage of those roots put up a battle. Strength that surrounded the regality of that crown fortified the fortress against all odds, and Her Majesty retained the throne. Then the Sun came and dried up that battle. The Sun came to see to it that the castle grew from strength to strength and bore fruit to feed the nation.

I like to think that we can all be trees. Our fortresses that we’ve been blessed with to be strong, to be fearless, to hone the determination that whether we win or lose in life, we would’ve applied our best selves to the tasks at hand. To strive regardless of any thunderstorm life may bring. To learn and flourish from our bad days, our bad years, and our bad choices having in mind that there’s no excuse for failing, no excuse for not trying.

You were made with roots that are anchored in wisdom and kindness, beauty and passion, freedom and love. A trunk that transcends the heavens to support a crown way above your mortality. And so with every storm that comes in life, with every axe they send to your trunk to devour your grace, with every broken bone and tsunami that attempt to break your joy, you’ll live, regardless.
