Hey guys! This week’s post is probably the most special one I’ve ever done. A few weeks ago, I made you guys aware of my upcoming anthology called Becoming A Butterfly in my blog post (We Have Feelings Too). I’m extremely elated to tell you that the e-book is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The book will be released on January 1, 2021, and will also be in paperback format!
Becoming A Butterfly is a collection of poetry, proses, and other forms of writing that covers a variety of themes such as love, heartbreak, depression, regret, infidelity, body image, and suicide. The book contains 7 sections which each cover their own set of themes, to create 7 unique reader experiences. The collection is not specific to any gender, sexuality, or race. It is an anthology for real people, with real issues, of all adult ages.
The book outlines my experiences with a range of issues during a vulnerable time in my life when I moved across my island, Jamaica, to begin a new journey – adulthood. The stories are personal and very much authentic. Making the decision to publish them was a huge step, and it still makes me very anxious. But I am at a place in my life where I am deeply invested in seeing people succeed and become the best version of themselves. So, I decided to share the first segment of my adult journey with you all, in hope that you will realize that life is fragile and limited and we should always do our best to survive, and to live. I hope you will relate to these pieces in some way and find the courage in them to keep on fighting.
Becoming A Butterfly is the first of a series of anthologies that I plan to release. It is therefore the foundation of what’s to come and a highly necessary preamble for the complex odyssey I plan to take you on.
I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the process, Anndean McMaster for my cover design, Inked Imagination Services for the formatting, everyone who helped me edit, and all my friends and family who were supportive right throughout.
